Swami Sivananda
(1887 - 1963)
|
|
|
|
Swami Sivananda is one of
the most prominent Yoga masters of the
20th century. His passion for service
drew him to the medical career and he
went to Malaysia to direct a hospital,
where he felt his service was most
needed. He discovered that people needed
right knowledge most of all and the
dissemination of that knowledge became
his mission. In 1932 he founded the
Sivananda ashram in Rishikesh and in 1936
the Divine Life Society. He is the author
of many books and himself reached the
ultimate goal of all Yoga practices, the
self-realization.

|
|
 |
|
The magnitude of his personality
and his loving way brought many disciples to
him, like Swami Vishnu-Devananda
(1927 - 1993), who founded the international
Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centers in Europe,
Canada and in the United States.
